Plot:Follows "The Last Exorcism". Nell Sweetzer (Ashley Bell) is found alone and terrified in the woods. Back in the relative safety of civilization, Nell realizes that she can't remember entire portions of the previous months only that she is the last surviving member of her family. Just as Nell begins the difficult process of starting a new life, the evil force that once possessed her is back with other, unimaginably horrific plans that mean herlast exorcism was just the beginning.

Review:"The Last Exorcism 2". Is the unrequited sequel to 2010's "The Last Exorcism". Apparently, someone out there started a petition for there to be a sequel. It quickly gained steam, and thus, one was born! Nah, I'm just kidding! The first movie made its budget back in spades. So the studio just decided to mess with a sequel to "cash-in". Per usual. Gotcha though! But at least Ashley Bell, from the first film is back, right? She plays Nell Sweetzer. The girl who survived her first encounter with, wait for it..."the demon". And, lets not forget...that nasty old cult! Because folks who live in the sticks, don't have much else better to do with their time than worship Lucifer.

And all that jazz. Nell was found, alive...in the woods. And she is taken to a safe haven where she meets a man named Frank Merle. Who acts as kinda like, her therapist. Trying to help Nell re-assimilate back into normal society. And it's so cool because, she even meets a boy while she's in New Orleans! And for a moment there, it looks like everything is "coming up Nell!" But, alas...no. The demon returns! Yes! He still possesses her mortal coil! And has plans for our dear, sweet, Nell. So I'm sure you're curious about what the demons "exact" plans are right? Well, for one...they involve boring us to tears with a paper thin script to an even more paper-thin sequel? Oh, and terrible visual-effects-laden flashback sequences! Can't forget those! And then there's Ashley Bell's performance.

Ah, what can I say about that. Except, I found attempting to balance my last starburst candy on my nose. To be a more interesting activity, than watching her perform in this horrid excuse for a "horror movie". I am not sure if it's young Ashley's fault. Or perhaps, that terrible script she was burdened with. But either way, something just wasn't right here. I was not a major supporter of "The Last Exorcism". But after seeing "2". I kind of wish "The Last Exorcism" (2010)? Really WAS...The "Last"...Exorcism! I could've saved $15 bucks in that case! This movie offers nothing that a sequel should offer. We don't learn anything new about the demon. Or Nell, or the new people she's surrounded by. And speaking of the demon, what a lame "force of evil". Or "Minion of the devil".

He, she, it, or they...are. This shines through in one scene where the demon calls Nell on the phone, and says perverted things to her. In the voice of her new boy-friend...Chris (Treat Clark). And Nell is freaked out by these perverted and scary-ass phone calls! But as an audience member. I was just, well...bored. I mean come on! You know how lame "The Omen" would've been if Damien had dialed up his victims before killing them? And what was with the demon, who's still inside of Nell, calling to harass her anyways? Was he drunk dialing? Or maybe it was a prank phone call! How clever! Curse those demons and their good clean fun from the late 80's! Anyone who's seen demon-horror-movies knows the process of these pictures though. The human "host". Has to be broken down by the demon before it can fully possess his or her soul.

So in Nell's case, the demon does this by "crank calling her", along with a few other majorly annoying...cliches. Like making her see things that aren't there, raining dead birds, and of course...the-emerging-shadows outside-the-church-chapel-windows-trick! Because you know we've never seen that before! By the way, how "easy" it was to set this film in New Orleans! Home of voodoo, hoodoo, and everything in between! They might as well have allowed this film to be set around the time of Mardi Gras to really slap the audience in the face! And in case you're wondering if there were any, genuinely scary moments in this movie? Well, sorry but no. I know they're on a budget here. Because they wanna spend a little, and make a lot. Like part 1 did, but at least throw us a damn bone!

Beyond the "silver-man" scene early in the flick, this movie has NO REALLY FRIGHTENING OR TERRIFYING moments. That'll make you pee your pants. Sorry, just the flat out truth. But when I think that this film came from CBS Films. It's obvious the mechanism here was to scare people by showing as little as possible. And when watching this movie, it kind of reminded me more of a Halloween episode of the new "Hawaii Five-O". Instead of a scary movie sequel. Unless you're an Ashley Bell fanboy, or fangirl.

And just wanna watch the actress run around squealing at well..."everything". For no apparent reason. Other than that she believes it's alive. You'll hate this movie as much as I did. Even the finale is an epic fail. And takes the series, franchise, or whatever it is at this point. In a strange, odd, and assinine new direction. I truly hope "this" exorcism is "the last". I personally don't think I could stand another. And I'm not even possessed by the devil!




THE GOOD:The "silver-man" scene is creepy and well done. Too bad, the rest of the movie didn't show as deliciously disturbing, a tone. As that one scene did.


THE BAD:One word...BORING! This movie just flat out pulls you down into the depths of boredom. No real scares here. Just leaves you hoping for something to salvage this sinking ship after "silver-man" scene. And a minion of the devil using prank phone-calls to scare his victim? Really?


OVERALL:One star out of four.
