The Irish player said that the team suspected something was up after Kekua passed away very soon after the death of his grandmother. Although the player said that Te'o was acting it up, he also placed some blame on the media for not fact-checking and figuring out the lie sooner than this.

This story officially got creepy when it was revealed Manti's male friend was the one posing as his "sick girlfriend". And that Manti's male friend also has a man-crush on him. This reminds me of one of those screwy romantic comedies you see at the multiplex. Only involving two dudes instead of a girl and a guy. In the end, it's all quite pathetic when someone who likes someone (gay, straight, or whatever)...has to drum up a fantasy/bs storyline like this to reveal that. Lets not forget how bad this situation makes it for the next person who really is involved in sports, and has a relative or someone they care about who is gravely ill. The suspicion-meter will immediately be raised. And cries of..."what if this is Manti Te'o 2?", will be heard. All thanks to these two idiots.
